Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong receives the Chief Representative of UNDP in Vietnam

TTH.VN - On November 10, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phuong had a meeting with Mrs. Ramla Al Khalidi, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on the occasion of starting her working term in Vietnam.

Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong desiring to reach more cooperation in the coming time

In the framework of the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong highly appreciated the projects that UNDP has implemented in the provincial area. The projects have contributed to promoting the resilience to the impacts of natural disasters and climate change on vulnerable coastal communities; strengthening capacity for effective management of conservative areas to reduce existing risks and emerging threats from associated habitats; and at the same time improving community capacity in plastic waste management associated with marine and lagoon tourism development, etc.

Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong desired that UNDP would continue to promote the cooperation in all fields. In which, it keeps on supporting the province in the projects that have been implementing in the provincial area; realizing the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding such as providing accessibility information through the smart urban’s smart application; Information Map for People with Disabilities (D-Map); promoting business climate index; supporting the businesses to gradually pursue the model of green business and investing in green products and value chains, etc.

Mrs. Ramla Al Khalidi highly appreciated the result in cooperation with the province over the time; especially, she was impressed by the changes in various socio-economic and environmental aspects in recent time. At the same time, she said that during her term, she would make effort to contribute to the cooperation between the province and UNDP in the fields of health – education, climate change adaptation and biodiversity, etc.

On November 30, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 175/2024/QH15 regarding the establishment of Hue City as a centrally governed municipality (NQ175). Simultaneously, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued Resolution 1314/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units in Hue City for the 2023–2025 period (NQ 1314). These resolutions will take effect on January 1, 2025.

Strengthening cooperation with foreign non-governmental organizations

On November 28, the Provincial People's Committee organized the Meeting with foreign non-governmental organizations in Thua Thien Hue province in 2024. In attendance at the meeting were Ms. Trinh Thi Mai Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Phan Quy Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
