Highlights in medical training cooperation
Prof.Dr. Nguyen Vu Quoc Huy, Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University said that in the international connection and cooperation network, the university has established relationships and signed cooperation agreements with over 60 partners covering universities, university hospitals, research institutes, governmental and non-governmental organizations, social enterprises from more than 40 countries worldwide.
In recent years, the most important partners of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy have always come from Japan. Shortly after the two countries started to establish diplomatic relations, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy boosted its first cooperation with Japanese partners through working visits. The years 2008 and 2009 were the time for the university to lay the firmest foundation when it established a tie with Nagoya University and Nagoya Hospital.
One of the most outstanding results of this cooperation was the birth of the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Center at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital in 2013. This center had the most modern equipment in Vietnam in 2013 at that time. With a total value of over 1 million USD, it enabled the hospital to improve its medical examination and treatment capacity for the people.
Consecutively afterward, in the field of medical human resources training, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy continued to receive support from partners from the "Rising Sun" country. The partners include Tokyo Metropolitan University, Tokyo Medical and Dental University, University of Tsukuba, Kyoto Prefectural University Hospital, Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine and Pharmacy and University of Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Toyohashi University of Technology, Toyama University, New Japan Academy…
To date, many staff of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy have finalized postgraduate programs in the fields of Medicine - Dentistry - Pharmacy, and Public Health in Japan and are making huge contributions to building and developing these majors at the university.
In particular, there have been hundreds of nursing students from the university going to Japan as interns and overseas students with a high rate of passing the Japan Certificate of Nursing Practice. Most of the students have stable and successful jobs and live right in Japan and Vietnam. Currently, the university's outstanding students keep receiving scholarships to follow postgraduate programs at the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW).
Quality labor resources supplied
Aside from the training aspect, according to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in implementing internship cooperation, and sending post-graduate students to Japan, the university creates conditions for nursing students to improve their qualifications, language, expertise, and culture to participate in patient care in Japan. This is a new field. The demand for labor in Japan is large; the income is high, so it is being boosted by the university.
The University of Medicine and Pharmacy leader said that the "picture" of diverse and expanded cooperation helps the university's output become better in quality. Currently, there is a vital indicator to evaluate the quality of training: the number of graduates soon getting suitable jobs. Particularly for the nursing major at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, besides the positions in the public sector and domestic private units, the opportunities are really open in the Japanese market.
The Japanese market is opening up to Hue University. For example, at the University of Foreign Languages, there is currently a policy to step up cooperation with businesses to offer more opportunities for the university's students to participate in experiential learning and internship in a real-life environment.
Recently, this university signed a cooperation agreement with Japan's Mikazuki Group to receive students for internship at Mikazuki hotels in Japan. The two sides will carry out an internship program for the university's students at Mikazuki, Japan in this 2023 - 2024 academic year.
The Mikazuki Group representative emphasized that the company ensures that the internship activities of the University of Foreign Languages students are consistent with the training majors, providing students with the opportunity to communicate and develop language skills and learn about Japanese culture in general and Japanese working culture in particular. More importantly, the group always creates job opportunities for students after studying and practicing in Japan because the labor resources in the tourism sector in Japan are scarce.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Huy, Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Relations, at Hue University, assessed that when international integration deepens, the trained human resources need to meet international needs. When done well, it will increase opportunities for a good working environment, high income, and full promotion of trainee’s ability. Cooperation to train a "global" workforce is an inevitable trend and has been stepped up by Hue University. Efficiency in international cooperation also represents a prerequisite for Hue University to have a favorable road map for becoming a National University.
