Nobel Laureate in Economics speaks to Hue students

TTH.VN - On May 14, Prof. Finn E. Kydland, the 2004 Nobel Laureate in Economics, had a talk with officers and students from the University of Economics, Hue University with the theme of "The way to the Nobel Prize."

Prof. Finn E. Kydland talked about his studies, research, and work. He particularly mentioned his decisions that partly affected his career and his winning the Nobel Prize, together with emotions and changes in his life after he received the award. Prof. Finn E. Kydland also shared his way of life and work, in which he views things with an open mind.

At the talk, many lecturers and students also asked Prof. Finn E. Kydland some questions, such as: what is his motivation to combine mathematics in economic research to win the Nobel Prize, how to face challenges, what factors determine his success, etc.

Previously, Prof. Finn E. Kydland had paid a working visit to the University of Economics, Hue University. Prof. Finn E. Kydland also signed the university’s guestbook and planted a memorial tree.

Prof. Finn E. Kydland is a Norwegian economist. He is currently a professor of economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He was awarded the 2004 Economic Nobel Prize for “contributions to dynamic macroeconomics: the time consistency of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles."
