According to Mr. Max Glesener, Programmes Director of the LuxDev, since 2007, LuxDev has been a long-standing partner, accompanying Thua Thien Hue province in implementing programs and projects funded by the Luxembourg Government and the Luxembourg Climate and Energy Fund (CEF) in the fields of rural development, climate change mitigation and adaptation. Four ODA projects have been successfully implemented with a total capital of 16.96 million euros, of which 12 million euros were funded by the Luxembourg Government and 4.96 million euros by the CEF.
Currently, the Luxembourg Government is funding and supporting projects for the province in the technical assistance of “Finance for resilience - promoting climate-smart agriculture and inclusive finance in Thua Thien Hue Province to improve the resilience abilities of farming households, especially women”, and the project on “Adaptation and resilience to climate change in Thua Thien Hue Province”.
Mr. Max Glesener highly evaluated the province's support, which has contributed to the effective implementation of projects in the area over the past period. He expressed his desire to continue receiving support from relevant departments, localities, and provincial leaders to ensure the progress, effectiveness, as well as objectives of the projects.
Mr. Hoang Hai Minh expressed his thanks for the interest shown by the Luxembourg Government and the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency in the province over the past period. The projects supported by the LuxDev have contributed to improving livelihoods, protecting livelihoods and the natural environment, and raising the awareness among the government and community about environmental issues and environmental protection in response to climate change.
Thua Thien Hue Province hopes that the LuxDev will continue to explore cooperation with the province in several areas such as sustainable forestry management; ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) focusing on Tam Giang Lagoon and coastal areas; attracting private sector finance for climate change; capacity building and policy advocacy programs, as well as perfecting legal/institutional frameworks, planning, and infrastructure, etc.
