TAZ readers admire the beauty of Tam Giang Lagoon

TTH.VN - On Jan 22, a group of readers of TAZ (Die Tageszeitung), a daily newspaper published with up to 60,000 copies a day in Germany, came and explored a community by the Tam Giang lagoon, as a stop in their country-wide trip in Vietnam.

Born in 1979 and functioning as an alternative to the traditional press, it has had a special position in the German media landscape. Close to the German Green party, the newspaper is in favor of feminists and environmentalists.

The group was warmly received by The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations of Thua Thien Hue Province (HueFO) and local people in Quang Loi commune - where the project “Building sustainable development and climate change resilience for Tam Giang lagoon communities” has been deployed for three years under the funding of German people, to which the TAZ is also a contributor.

After being briefed about the province, life of the coastal communities, and the project, the group made a nice boat trip around the lagoon to explore the project activities on the brackish water, especially the new large area of green shaped by the massive mangroves successfully planted. Also, the members drop hundreds of baby seabasses at the project-built fish sanctuary, which was established to help preserve the biodiversity of the lagoon. Before leaving, the German friends enjoyed fantastic local foods prepared by the community-based tourism group of Ngu My Thanh village in a cozy lunch with nice conversations with the locals.
