Education management staff and lecturers attended the training course

The Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Australian Human Rights Commission signed a memorandum of understanding to promote human rights in Vietnam through education, including organizing training courses for education management staff, groups of authors developing programs and textbooks on human rights content, Vietnam's obligations on human rights under international conventions; developing and revising educational materials on human rights in Vietnamese for preschool, primary, secondary and high school, as well as vocational education and higher education.

The training course provides an opportunity for education management staff, lecturers, and experts in developing programs and textbooks for general education at all levels to acquire fundamental knowledge about the content and methods of human rights education. It also offers guidance on how to integrate this knowledge into educational programs at each level and grade within the education system. This is facilitated by the support of human rights education experts from the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Speaking at the training session, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, stated that Thua Thien Hue had issued the Plan No. 77/KH-UBND on implementing the project on integrating “Human rights content into the education program in the preschool education system, general education and vocational education” by 2025 in the province, which would be carried out in 2 phases, from 2018 - 2020, and 2021 - 2025.

Thereby, the plan has specifically defined the goals, contents, tasks, solutions, roadmap, budget, and implementation organization; of which, building a core team to implement the integration of human rights content into the education programs of the preschool, general education (primary, secondary, and high school), and vocational education system is a top priority.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh expressed his hope that the training course on human rights education organized by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in Hue City would provide teachers and education experts from various localities in general and Thua Thien Hue in particular with an opportunity to thoroughly grasp, deeply and fully understand, and to further promote the effectiveness, as well as the work of human rights education according to the project's contents, bringing many practical results in the coming time.

The training course is taking place from August 12 - 14.
