International artists performing at Hue Festival Week
1. Hue Festival 2022, with the highlight of Hue Festival Week themed "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development" taking place from June 25th to June 30th, includes large-scaled cultural, artistic and festival activities with a sense of community. Unlike previous times, Hue Festival 2022 does not focus on art programs taking place in a certain time, but being organized all year round under the theme of the Four Seasons Festival.
Cultural and artistic activities, as well as folk and royal festivals are distributed at a time to meet the needs of tourists who want to visit and explore these things.
Hue Festival 2022, with nearly 50 events which are held continuously within a year by domestic and international art troupes, representing the cultural identity of regions and countries for cultural exchange and cooperation with the purpose of honoring and promoting the typical cultural features of the ancient capital, has continued to affirm the brand name of Hue Festival, while at the same time enhancing the position and image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam in general and Hue in particular.
2. The Grassroot-level Sports Congress and the 9th Thua Thien Hue Provincial Sports Congressin 2021 - 2022 were successfully held. The opening ceremony of the Provincial Sports Congress was held on a large scale at Tu Do Stadium with the participation of nearly 15,000 officials, coaches, athletes, students, civil servants, officers, workers and people.
This is a large-scale and meaningful event of the province in order to continue promoting the movement “All people doing physical exercise following the example of the great Uncle Ho”associated with the movement “All people unite in building cultural lifestyle”.
3. In 2022, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee signed decisions to allow non-public museum activities for the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum (144 Dang Thai Than Str., Thuan Hoa ward, Hue city) and the Cecile Le Pham Fine Arts Museum (53 Ham Nghi Str., Phuoc Vinh ward, Hue city).
4. A bumper year of sports in Thua Thien Hue. The year 2022 marks the outstanding development of high-performance sports in Thua Thien Hue. Up to this point, the provincial athletes' delegations have won 348 medals (96 gold medals, 94 silver medals, 158 bronze medals).
Particularly, there were 12 international medals (6 gold medal, 1 silver, 5 bronze). The most impressive achievement was the participation of the Provincial Athletes' Union at the 31st SEA Games, although there were only 5 athletes in the national team, they brought in 5 medals, including 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal.
In particular, at the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022, the Provincial Sports Delegation excellently won 39 medals of all kinds, ranked 21st out of 65 participating provinces, cities and departments. This is the best achievement of Thua Thien Hue sport at the National Sports Festival so far.
5. Phu Dien Champa Tower received 2 Vietnam and World records. Phu Dien Champa Tower, recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a National Art and Architecture Monument in 2001, is an architecture belonging to the Champa culture with scientific, historical, architectural and artistic values.
On March 14th, 2022, the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) decided to set a Vietnamese record for Phu Dien Tower with the title “Phu Dien Tower – The first ancient Cham Tower sunken deep under the coastal sand dunes being excavated and preserved in Vietnam”.
After that, on May 30th, 2022, the World Records Union (WorldKings) decided to set a World Record for Phu Dien Tower with the title “The world’s first ancient brick Cham tower sunken deep under the coastal sand dunes being excavated and preserved.”
6. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhi - The Golden Girl of Thua Thien Hue Sports in 2022. Having won 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals, breaking 1 record and setting 1 new record, the archery athlete born in 2001 deserves to be one of the most prominent athletes at the 9th National Sports Festival in 2022.
In particular, at the Asian Archery Championships ASIA Cup - SHARJAH held in Qatar, Ms. Thanh Nhi excellently defeated a very strong opponent of the Korean archery team to win the gold medal in individual content, and at the same time together with the Vietnamese archery team won bronze medalat this tournament. Earlier at the 31st SEA Games held in Vietnam, Ms. Thanh Nhi also won 1 silver medal.
7. The 14th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of the mountainous ethnic minorities in Thua Thien Hue province was successfully organized. In 2022, the Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with the People's Committee of Nam Dong district and other related units to organize the 14th Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of the mountainous ethnic minorities in Thua Thien Hueprovince with a variety of activities such as: Mass art festival, sports and gymnastics competition, re-enactment of the new rice festival of the ethnic minorities in Nam Dong district, display activities, exhibitions, and demonstrations of traditional crafts, etc.
8. VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue 2022. More than 4,700 runners from 63 provinces across the country competed in distances of 5km, 10km, 21km, 42km at the VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue 2022 jointly held by VnExpress e-newspaper and the Provincial People's Committee on April 10th. During the days of VnExpress Marathon Imperial Hue 2022, it is estimated that Hue welcomed more than 10,000 guests to stay, helping to stimulate tourism demand and develop socio-economic development in the new normal state. The fact that 4 distances at the tournament are certified by the International Marathon Association to meet AIMS standards raises the level of this to an international running event.
9. Thua Thien Hue strives to “repatriate” antiques. The year 2022 marks the success in the work of “repatriating” antiques in Thua Thien Hue, including the two antiques: the imperial mandarin hat and Nhat Binh's robe from the Nguyen Dynasty dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century donated to the province by an enterprise after winning an overseas auction with a total value of approximately 21 billion VND. Previously, in 2014, Thua Thien Hue successfully auctioned a rickshaw made of wood inlaid with intact, luxurious and noble pearls, which is said to have been ordered by Emperor Thanh Thai as a gift to his mother, Empress Dowager Tu Minh at the beginning of the previous century.
10. Hue Nam Palace Festival is re-organized after 2 years of hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attracting thousands of “holy” faithful, fellow believers, and tourists. Especially, after 51 years, since 1971, the Hue Nam Palace Festival held in March 2022 has restored the procession of the Holy Mother and the Council of Four Palaces by road from 352 Chi Lang Str. to Nghinh Luong Dinh with a distance of more than 3km, creating a special highlight, attracting the large participation of the community and visitors.
