Thousands of people attend Hue Nam Temple Festival

TTH.VN - Hue Nam Temple (Hon Chen Temple) Festival in July (Lunar calendar) has officially commenced on the morning of August 5 at Thien Tien Thanh Giao Holy Palace (352 Chi Lang, Hue City) with ceremonies preceding the procession of the Mother Goddess by waterway upstream the Huong River to Hue Nam Temple.

Hue Nam Temple Festival is a traditional activity with cultural and spiritual elements of a part of Hue's population

This festival is a typical cultural event in the Autumn Festival of Hue Festival 2022.

Many of ‘the “holy” faithful’, fellow believers, local people, and tourists from near and far were present at Thien Tien Thanh Giao Holy Palace to participate in the ceremony. After the entreating ritual, the procession with about 70 single and double dragon boats proceeded to Hue Nam Temple at the upstream of the Huong River in Huong Tho Commune (Hue City).

Taking place in 3 days, the festival is expected to welcome about 5,000 - 7,000 people with rituals such as the opening drum, the entreating ritual, the main ceremony to pray for peace and prosperity for the nation, the ceremony to welcome the Mother Goddess and the Council of Four Palaces to Hai Cat village, the main ceremony at the communal house of Hai Cat village, the ceremony for the Mother Goddess and the Council of Four Palaces to return to Hue Nam Temple, the thanksgiving ceremony and the closing ceremony at Hue Nam Temple.

As part of the program, there are also activities for fellow believers to offer incense and participate in activities in the dragon boats.

According to the Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, the Hue Nam Temple (Hon Chen Temple) Festival will take place in two days, from April 21 to 22 (on the second and the third day of the third month in Lunar calendar).

The people lining up in a long procession solemnly bringing the Holy Mother through the central streets of Hue city created a colorful, but dignified and reverent sight. On both sides of the road, tourists and Hue people stood watching attentively, because it has been a long time since such an event has been held.
