One of the first passengers to arrive at Terminal T2, Ms. Hoang Thi Lien (An Dong, Hue City), shared that she was very excited when she heard the flight attendant announced that they would be landing at the new terminal. As soon as she arrived at Phu Bai Airport, she found Terminal T2 to be very beautiful and spacious. The staff there were sincere and quick.
“I am proud and honoured that my hometown has a modern airport that contributes to the aviation business in Vietnam and is not inferior to international friends,” Ms. Lien shared.
Ms. Gaellems Okba (French nationality) was quite surprised when she arrived at Terminal T2: “I see a clean and beautiful airport. The reception areas are modern and luxurious. The service staff are attentive, friendly, and enthusiastic, making me feel comfortable after tiring hours of sitting on the plane.”
A representative of the Phu Bai International Airport leadership said that on April 28th alone, there were a total of 46 domestic flights from airlines such as VNA, Bamboo, Vietjet, Jetstar Pacific, etc… to and from Phu Bai International Airport with more than 6,000 passengers. All were operated at the new terminal to pick up and drop off passengers. This is the result of nearly 3 years of “lightning-fast” construction despite being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to the attention of the Government, the ministries, central industries, and local authorities.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tien, Director of Phu Bai International Airport, said, “The operation of the new Terminal T2 will contribute to improving the quality of aviation services not only in Hue but also in neighbouring localities, especially meeting the requirements of flights to this terminal, in which we expect to have many direct international flights to Hue.”
Terminal T2 of Phu Bai International Airport was started in December 2019 by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) as the investor, with a total investment of VND 2,250 billion. The terminal was designed with a floor area of about 22,380 m2, including 2 elevations and 3 floors (including floor 1, mezzanine, and floor 2), with aesthetic features suitable for the Central Region's weather conditions.
In particular, many rooms are equipped with modern machinery and equipment for convenient joint procedures for both international and domestic flights with 48 check-in counters and check-in areas along with other auxiliary services.
Terminal T2 is aesthetically designed in the style of Hue royal architecture but is modern and suitable for the Central Region's weather conditions. In the initial phase, Terminal T2 is expected to have a capacity of 5 million turns of passengers per year (including 4 million domestic passengers and 1 million international passengers). Later on, it will increase to 9 million passengers per year.
