This was an opportunity for the leaders from different cities and provinces to meet and share experiences and cooperation. Subsequently, the Ministry of Information and Communications will have specific orientations on how to create a standard smart city in the coming time as well as widely deploy this initiation nationwide with the criteria: efficient, economical and safe.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan informed that there are now more than 20 provinces and cities nationwide deploying the model of smart city with different scales and approaches. The central leaders and the Government recognized and highly appreciated the Thua Thien Hue smart city model and considered it to be an appropriate model for the development of smart cities that the Government had proposed.
Sharing about the process of building a smart city, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho informed that in more than 18 years of building an electronic government, associated with project 112, Thua Thien Hue has faced numerous difficulties in awareness, human resources as well as infrastructure.
However, the factors that have brought about initial success are the high determination of the leaders of the departments, the trust of the system users, the perfection of the institution, the process of computerization of administrative procedures and infrastructure including hardware and software systems. Currently, Thua Thien Hue is entering phase 3 with widespread application of information technology.

Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho emphasized that smart city is a development trend nationwide, but to be successful, it must be associated with the completion of the operating system, surveillance camera system and apps reflecting the scene and especially the frequency with which people participate.
Concluding at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Pham Anh Tuan confirmed that the Ministry will soon issue documents guiding the standard frameworks for information technology applications in smart cities. At the same time, the Deputy Minister proposed Thua Thien Hue to provide methods and procedures to support the implementation of smart cities for other provinces and cities.
