A perspective of the bridge over the Huong River
The goals of the project is to contribute to the improvement of the traffic network, improve the traffic capacity, prevent congestion, and reduce traffic volume on National Highway 1A and routes through the city center; create the motivation, form and develop satellite towns, as well as a new urban area in the West of the city; develop the society and economy, services, tourism, along with improving the residents’ daily life, etc.
The investment scale of the project is more than VND 2,281 billion, of which, more than VND 1,855 billion, invested in the initial phase, is from the central and local budgets (with VND 800 billion from the central budget, and the rest is from the local budget). The project is built by the joint venture between Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Company Limited and Thua Thien Hue Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company..., for a period of three years from the date of commencement.
According to the design scale, the completed project will include two major categories, namely the construction of the bridge over the Huong River (with its starting point is the intersection of Kim Long - Nguyen Phuc Nguyen - Nguyen Hoang streets; and its end point is the intersection of Bui Thi Xuan Street), and Nguyen Hoang Street (the branch of the road leading to the bridge on the northern bank of the Huong River, with a length of about 1.08 kilometers).
The total length of the bridge, including its both ends, is about 590 meters. Both intersections at the both ends of the bridge (including the northern intersection of Kim Long - Nguyen Phuc Nguyen streets, and the southern intersection of Bui Thi Xuan Street) are designed as the same-level intersection, and combined with the embellishment so as to match the existing roads.

The bridge is designed with arch shape of a parabola with five spans, and reinforced concrete and steel structure, which is in accordance with the architectural option in the previous contests, selected and agreed by the competent authority. The bridge's navigable span is at level 3, with the minimum navigability of 30-meter width, and 6-meter height.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong affirmed that the project of Nguyen Hoang Street and the bridge over the Huong River commenced that day; along with the project of the coastal road and the bridge over Thuan An estuary, which had been commenced just nine months ago (on March 26, 2022); and Chan May port breakwater (in the second phase) commenced two months ago (on October 8, 2022), were the initial step, concretizing and realizing the goals and policies of the province and the central government on "Building a synchronous and modern infrastructure system".
