"Vietnamese flowers" by Trinh Hoang Tan

It is the first art get-together between Hue, Da Nang and Quang Tri. The 53 works by the 53 artists, both senior and young, clearly portray the art of each region in particular and provide an overview of the art of the whole area in general.

While Quang Tri has Trinh Hoang Tan, Truong Minh Du, The Ha, etc., Da Nang with Ho Dinh Nam Kha, Nguyen Trong Dung and Than Trong Dung, Hue boasts Phan Thanh Binh, Nguyen Thi Hai Hoa, Le Van Nhuong, To Tran Bich Thuy, etc. They together create a colorful and interesting connection.

Each artwork is a story about the inside, full of humanity. It praises life and the country. It shows the artist's love of nature and humans. It also expresses the artist's destiny, his awareness of life philosophy and his desire to capture the constant ideal beauty in the contemporary society with a touch of regional culture.

These ideas and messages are expressed with various techniques and diverse materials such as oil painting, lacquer, acrylic, silk, wood engraving, wood carving, metal printing, truc chi (bamboo paper), synthetics, etc. and in rich visual styles such as abstract, semi-abstract, impressionist, cubic and realistic.

"Ancient Hoi An" by Nguyen Tuong Vinh

According to painter Nguyen Thien Duc, Head of Thua Thien-Hue Fine Arts Association, the works displayed in the exhibition also show the unique characteristic of each area: gentle Hue, thorny Quang Tri and Da Nang full of desires.

"Changes with Huong River" by artist Nguyen Thi Hue is one of the works which characterizes the Hue style: gentle, soft and profound. The subject of the painting is the representation of the golden Truong Tien Bridge on synthetic silk.

Her breakthrough in drawing technique creates a beautiful and profound work. It is as if heaven, earth, clouds and water blended with one another in this painting, creating the typical space of Hue.

According to the artist, the sunshine on the golden river is expressed through the image of ancient coins, recalling the coin mint round the corner in the past, hence the name Truong Tien. Another special thing of the painting is the bridge is gilded with silver and the sun rays with real gold.

With his painting "Ancient Hoi An," painter Nguyen Tuong Vinh from Danang depicts in detail the ordinary life activities of the town in the past. It is like a pictorial chronicle of the history and culture of ancient Hoi An.

Old houses, the daily life with bustling business transactions are depicted in a realistic and lively way. The valuable big-sized painting on wood shows the artist's hard and meticulous working.

With "Vietnamese flowers," artist Trinh Hoang Tan (Quang Tri) uses lacquer to portray the Vietnamese mother and woman. The contrast between red and black, the two typical colors of lacquer, highlight the mother, arousing emotion in the viewer through the image of skinny and melancholy Vietnamese women.

According to Nguyen Thien Duc, besides the shared history of the lands, the arts of Hue, Da Nang and Quang Tri have many things in common since Hue College of Fine Arts, Hue University is where many talented artists from the three cities used to study and many modern values of art are cherished and generated.

"This exhibition is regarded as the beginning for the exchange and collaboration of art activities of Hue, Quang Tri and Da Nang in the future. The three regions should organize an exhibition every two years to exchange and share ideas, together creating a new face for the art in Central Vietnam.
