Opening Book Festival Day and launching 2 publications from Hue Bookcase

TTH.VN - The 2024 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day kicked off on the morning of April 19th at Hue Provincial General Library with many activities.

Attending the event were Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Phan Ngoc Tho, along with representatives from departments and agencies, cultural figures, researchers, and a large number of readers.

At the festival, the organizers displayed about 200 books and documents about Hue and an exhibition of 30 children's paintings, “Hue and Ao Dai in the eyes of children”, from the children's painting contest according to books organized by Hue Provincial General Library.

In addition, there was a book introduction contest for students from 12 secondary schools in Hue City in support of the 2024 Hue Festival with the theme: “Beautiful and poetic Hue”.

In addition, the “Reading Week - Lifelong Learning” program was launched to primary and secondary schools in the form of registering for activities at the library such as watching 3D movies, reading books in the children's reading room, organizing fun and educational activities… for students. On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also launched the preliminary round of the 2024 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in the province.

As part of the program, the organizers also donated books to prisons, detention centers, public libraries, school libraries, and private bookcases serving the community...

* On the same morning, also at Thua Thien Hue General Library, the introduction ceremony for two new publications from the Hue Bookcase took place: “Hue, the Magical Capital” volume 1 and volume 2.

Two volumes of “Hue - the Magic Capital” book set is a collection of 40 outstanding research articles on Hue royal court culture by scholars from Association of Friends of Ancient Hue (Association des amis du vieux Hué), which were previously printed in the Association's Journal before 1945 in French.

Recognizing the value of this work in many aspects, Hue Bookcase collaborated with Thuan Hoa Publishing House to edit and proofread to improve the content quality, as well as redesign for a more beautiful and suitable format. It is known that “Hue - the Magic Capital” is the 10th book of the Hue Bookcase.
