"Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh" through the Inherited Calligraphy of Taiwan (China)

TTH.VN - On the morning of June 17th, Hue Monument Conservation Center, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Sports and the Inherited Calligraphy Association of Taiwan (China), inaugurated the exhibition "Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh (Twenty gorgeous landscapes of the Land of Genies) – Emperor Thieu Tri poetry through the Inherited Calligraphy of Taiwan (China)" at Thieu Phuong Garden, within the Imperial Citadel.

"Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh" by Emperor Thieu Tri expressed through Inherited Calligraphy 

This is one of the activities in the series of events commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Complex of Hue Monuments and the 20th anniversary of Hue Royal Court Music being honored by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

The exhibition introduces to the public and tourists 53 calligraphy depicting 20 poems from the collection "Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh" by Emperor Thieu Tri, using various calligraphy styles such as Trien, le, chan, hanh, thao, etc. These calligraphic pieces are created by artists and calligraphy researchers from the Inherited Calligraphy Association of Taiwan (China), and are displayed for the public to appreciate.

When it comes to the exquisite poetry of the Nguyen Dynasty poets, it is impossible not to mention the poetry of the Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Emperor Thieu Tri, the third emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty, is described in historical records as an intelligent ruler who devoted himself to the affairs of the country, had a deep understanding of Confucianism, and had a great love for poetry.

"Than Kinh Nhi Thap Canh", a collection of 20 poems by Emperor Thieu Tri. These poems depict 20 famous scenic spots in Hue Imperial Capital, including 7 natural landscapes and 13 man-made landscapes. The poems capture Emperor Thieu Tri’s emotions and appreciation for the serene beauty of the land of genies.

The exhibition of these calligraphic artworks serves as evidence of the dissemination of Vietnamese cultural values on the path of cultural integration internationally. It also affirms the significance of the global heritage values encapsulated in the cultural heritage of Hue Ancient Capital.
