The music from the cassette radio helps Tuong An remove his fatigue, and it is the old items he collected to decorate his living space that relax An's eyes after many hours of working on the computer.

Tuong An said, "Those collectibles are really valuable because just looking at them for a moment helps to forget the pressures of life."

In modern life, many people are in the habit of returning to nostalgia, and old items give them that feeling.

Nguyen Cong Danh, 31, said the age of technology makes it easier to find old items. On Facebook, there are websites to buy, sell, collect, and exchange old items. The price is not too cheap, but not too expensive. When passionate, a collector is ready to pay for an item of millions of dong, which is necessary for a certain position of his house.

“I have gone to work, saved money, then gradually collected the items I liked to decorate the house corners for 3 years of pursuing that passion, I have an old radio with a wood shell, a shelf for cassette tapes, a few old phones, a vintage (classic) lamp …, " Cong Danh boasted.

There are quite a lot of old items many people love to collect, mostly antique salon tables and chairs, old bookcases, cassette radios, vintage lights, dial phones, antique watches, and typewriters…

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Tra, who has just collected a set of tables and chairs, said during the subsidy period, wood tables and chairs were known as high-class furniture that only moneyed families could afford them.

This is a vintage decoration that is of not only display value but also use value. It makes a difference. The old tables and chairs create a strange and unique living space while bringing sophistication, elegance, and warmth.

Creative from each idea

Finding a satisfactory old item is one thing; bringing it home to decorate is another, requiring the collector to be creative from each angle. Tuong An said that before bringing old items home, it is necessary to shape the design corner of the house. Some items have to be gradually collected, and space must be reserved to complement the missing items in the collection of old items.
