Submitting dossier to UNESCO for recognition of Hue Singing as an intangible cultural heritage

TTH.VN - Thua Thien Hue Department of Culture and Information said that it was planning to build a dossier of "Hue Singing (Ca Hue) art" to submit to UNESCO for its recognition as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

In addition, the Department has directed Hue Opera Arts Theater and relevant units to develop a master plan to conserve and promote Hue Singing heritage in a sustainable manner.

For the time being, they need to implement a professional training program and to organize the examination and re-evaluation of the skill levels of the contingent of singers and musicians who are working in this field; and, to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training to bring Hue singing into schools. At the same time, a research work on Hue Singing basing on the articles and opinions of experts, researchers and managers is prepared to be published.

From July 20 to 26, at Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-cum-convention centre (IECC) in New Delhi, India, a delegation of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, led by Permanent Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh, attended the programs within the framework of the session, according to the invitation from the Director of the UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee and Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO. The delegation was accompanied by representatives from departments and branches.

With unique and significant values in terms of form and informational content, "The Engravings on the Nine Dynastic Urns of Hue Imperial Citadel" was recognized by UNESCO as a Documentary Heritage in the Asia-Pacific region's Memory of the World Program on May 8th.
