On the morning of March 16th, the People's Committee of Hue City, in coordination with the Forest Protection Department, the Management Board of “Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation” (VFBC) Technical Support Project, and the Implementation Unit of WWF-Vietnam Biodiversity Conservation Component, organized a ceremony to launch the “Action for Wildlife” Campaign.
A Roang is far but close

A Roang is a border commune of A Luoi district, which is about 90km away from Hue city center. People living here are mainly the Ta Oi people. Being located at the foot of the majestic Truong Son Mountain, A Roang was once a poor and extremely difficult place to travel to. Located downstream of the Perfume River, Ru Cha is a rare primeval mangrove forest that exists in Tam Giang lagoon. The forest belongs to Thuan Hoa village (Huong Phong commune), about 15km from the center of Hue city. The scenery here is like a picture of pristine, fresh and gentle nature, attracting all eyes.

Within less than 10 kilometers away from the center of Hue City, Ru Cha is located in Thuan Hoa Village, Huong Phong Commune (Hue City). It is named Ru Cha because this place is a forest (also known as ru) with the cha (excoecaria agallocha, a mangrove species) trees, grown to prevent salinity and protect the mainland. This is a rare and precious primeval mangrove forest, within the Tam Giang lagoon system - the largest brackish water lagoon in Southeast Asia.

The primeval forests of A Roang Commune, A Luoi District (a mountainous district located in the southwest, 70 kilometers from Hue City) are located around 15 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh Road. It will take you about two hours to go deep inside these primeval forests.
