7 new travel trends
A survey result commissioned for a research by Booking.com with 27,730 tourists in 33 countries and territories shows that 7 travel trends are popular with Vietnamese tourists as well as tourists around the world in 2024. Environmental factors and sustainable tourism are still highly valued by Vietnamese and international tourists.
According to this survey results, 7 main travel trends favored by tourists in 2024 include traveling to refresh yourself, traveling to escape the heat, impromptu travel, culinary discovery, traveling to heal illness, AI-powered budget optimization (using AI to create a thorough spending plan and optimize the budget for a premium experience) and sustainable tourism.
Typically, in culinary discovery tourism, survey results show that the majority of Vietnamese tourists (94%) want to try local cuisine and explore traditional flavors in 2024. Local tourism experiences are forecast to grow strongly in 2024, taking visitors on culinary journeys with fascinating stories, while bringing more pride and income to communities around the globe.

The domestic tourist market is still the main tourist stream of Thua Thien Hue tourism. The province's perspective is to develop tourism quickly and sustainably, ensuring quality and competitiveness, closely associated with preserving and promoting cultural heritage values, preserving landscapes, and protecting the environment, creating breakthroughs with new, different development models with a comprehensive vision in regional, national, and international linkages. The tourism industry also regularly researches and updates tourism trends to meet the needs of tourists.
Investing more in tourism products
The important factor in attracting tourists is tourism products. New tourism trends also require tourism units to be more proactive in accessing the market and exploiting tours and tourism products that customers need.
Ms. Duong Thi Cong Ly, Vice President of the Provincial Travel Association, said that every year, through fam trip programs, the Travel Association regularly connects businesses inside and outside the province to survey and research to open online tours and build new tourism products. Existing tourism products are also invested in more depth, creating more experiences for tourists.
According to the Department of Tourism, market research and surveys must be carried out regularly. From survey data based on tourists' psychology and needs, units will focus on investing in perfecting tourism products. Thua Thien Hue is continuing to attract and call for investment in the tourism sector while promoting and supporting businesses in perfecting attractive tourism products that attract visitors.
