The signing ceremony marks a new phase of collaboration between the two parties. |
In Thua Thien Hue, WWF and the WWF Vietnam Office have implemented various projects that have contributed to enhancing sustainable management capacity of natural resources. These initiatives aim to raise awareness and improve the livelihoods of local communities, helping to reduce illegal forest resource exploitation and wildlife poaching. They also gradually identify the value of biodiversity in forests and conserve them in a sustainable way.
One of the standout projects is “Hue – Central Vietnam's plastic Waste Reduction City”, which has had a significant positive impact on the landscape and environment of Thua Thien Hue province, particularly in Hue city. The project has supported source classification, waste collection, recycling from landfills, and raised awareness, leading to changes in public behaviour regarding plastic waste. This has helped Hue become a greener, cleaner, and brighter city.
Through WWF, several key partners like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety, and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have connected with Thua Thien Hue's conservation network. These international organizations have supported efforts to manage and protect forests, conserve nature, adapt to climate change, and promote the natural and cultural beauty of Thua Thien Hue to global audiences.
