Connecting National Technology Villages to promote innovative start-ups

TTH.VN - Gaining access to expert resources, capital and technology within the country and abroad in order to introduce and connect with the local community and vice versa is the main goal of the forum “Meeting the Heads of National Technology Villages, Launching the National AI Technology Village in Hue, and Holding a seminar on building the Ancient Capital Startup Ecosystem” hosted by the Provincial People's Committee in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology on October 27th in Hue City.

Diverting resources to the locality

Currently, "innovation" tends to shift towards "open innovation" to promote internal strength in combination with seeking support from external resources and technological solutions from the community. Therefore, forming technology villages to attract and develop more local co-heads is a way to solve strategic problems for enterprises under the influence of the 4.0 technology wave, as well as the changing demand from the market.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, while the province has done a good job in building a digital government over the past time, the digital economy and digital technology have not been promoted, which results from the lack of participation and contribution of units, agencies and  enterprises to form a complete and developed ecosystem in the coming time. The event of meeting the Heads of Technology Villages is the first step in creating a bridge for Hue City to meet and connect national technology villages in order to exchange and share technology experiences, promote innovative solutions from startups in the era of strong technology development, as well as attract experts, intellectuals, domestic entrepreneurs, and overseas Vietnamese.

Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is considered as one of the leading important technology industries, helping people solve many real-life problems. This field is attracting great attention globally thanks to its innovations with modern and outstanding features. Thua Thien Hue has an advantage in this field with many research organizations and enterprises that have successfully implemented projects such as: “Smart urban monitoring and control center”, “Smart bicycle system”, “AIQuant- smart financial investment”, “Appointment-booking and Smart Advisor Chatbot for family doctor's clinic”, “The assistant system with AI technology to support people in accessing public administrative services online in e-government in the province”, etc.

However, according to Dr. Ho Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology, there are not many startups with breakthrough achievements in the field of AI, and the application of AI to solve real-life problems is still modest. The establishment and launch of the National AI Technology Village in Thua Thien Hue will set a new trend of “open” innovation to form an international gateway to Vietnam, which helps to find Vietnamese talents for big playgrounds, while at the same time gradually spreading and bringing the application of AI technology into life.

Synergizing co-creation

In order for AI technology to go from “virtual” to practical, serving real life and socio-economic development, Mr. Pham Hong Quat, Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises, said that the first requirement was to attract and connect people to synergize “co-creation”. For the national technology villages in general and the National AI Technology Village in particular, they should not only focus on promoting the development of innovative start-ups, but also have the ability to mobilize capital, make the most of resources, and gradually form a community of angel investors, venture capital funds, and local startups.

Introducing technology village co-heads in Hue involving in many fields

Along with the launch of the National AI Technology Village in Thua Thien Hue, the event also welcomes and launches the Co-Heads of Villages in the fields of: Financial Technology Village, Creative Arts Technology Village, Clean medicinal herbs Technology Village, Tourism and Culinary Technology Village, Smart City Technology Village. The village co-heads have the mission of promoting technological solutions of innovative start-ups, solving problems and challenges posed for socio-economic development of the province, of the Central region and the whole country.

Within the framework of the event, there was also a discussion session between the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Department of Science and Technology, the heads of technology villages, the Vietnam Science and Technology Enterprise Startup Fund, etc., to participate in building, commenting and sharing ideas for the Start-up Ancient Capital ecosystem, and at the same time advise the province on appropriate implementation policies, give suggestions to businesses, human resource providers, research institutions, and service providers, expert advisors in each field, incubators, investors, and so on.

The seminar also shared resources from technology villages with a vision of new trends, promoting the formation of open innovation thinking and innovation through technology initiatives. Through the seminar, innovation start-up activities in the province will have appropriate steps and positive results in the coming time by attracting resources of experts, intellectuals and entrepreneurs within the country and abroad, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province, the central region and the whole country.
