Training according to market requirements

After graduating from high school, Duong Minh Hoang registered for Information Technology training course under the joint program between Sun Asterik Company (Japanese company operating in the field of Information Technology, based in Da Nang) and Hue Industrial College. In addition to having access to the standard learning program, close to the reality of the market, what Hoang could learn most was the style and experience working in an enterprise environment.

Hoang shared: “From the initial confusion when not figuring out what to learn, thanks to the fact that I could experience the actual working conditions at the company, I have improved faster, been able to grasp the process of deploying project, been more confident at work, so it is easier to get a job. ”

Hoang is one of 30 students of the first course following this training cooperation model. Starting in 2016, Hoang's class is about to graduate. All students who meet this training program requirements will be admitted to Sun Asterik Company. If there are other better opportunities, students can still choose without any constraints from the company.

With this joint training program, lecturers of Hue Industrial College and experts of Sun Asterik Company have jointly developed training programs that are suitable for the program framework and facilities of the college and meet the company’s output and learner's capacity. Teachers are assigned to be trained at the company based on the company's equipment and technology.

Each semester, the company sends people to the school to coordinate with teaching and interviewing students directly to check the level of knowledge acquisition to adjust teaching methods on that basis. In the second and third school year, students can get access to real-world models, participate in a number of projects of the enterprise and are scored by the enterprise.

According to Mr. Hoang Nhac Trung, Sun Asterik Training Manager, the initial cost of the company is quite high, but when successfully transferred to the first, second generations of students, the school can apply this training model to next generations. This is a long-term investment strategy, not only for the benefit of enterprises but also for the community.

Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Head of the Faculty of Information Technology, Hue Industrial College, said: “With this joint training program, lecturers must also meet the training criteria of the company. When lecturers update their knowledge and technology in the enterprise, they can grasp the trend of what the enterprise needs, practical knowledge, practical exercises, related projects to teach students, not only one class but many classes. Students are also very excited because they are learning according to a certain project and not just studying the theory, they can participate in the project in a proper way, approaching the working skills”.

All parties can gain benefits

To shorten the gap between training and practical work, since 2015, Hue Industrial College has applied a model to bring enterprises to school. The first thing they did was to cooperate with Yamaha Company to open a motorbike repair training center.

Under this coordination, the school has supported facilities and premises; Yamaha has sponsored all equipment and motorbikes. Whenever new types of motorcycles appear on the market, Yamaha will send a version to the Yamaha Training Center. Every year, the school also sends teachers to Yamaha training centers to update new knowledge.

The same cooperation model is also applied by the school by coordinating with HBI Company. Its training center for sewing machine repair and Industrial sewing training center located at Hue Industrial College have provided vocational training for hundreds of workers. With these cooperation models, the company is committed to accepting students after graduation but not binding all students to work at the company. If students return to work at these companies after graduation, they will be refunded 100% tuition.

Mr. Tran Huu Chau Giang, Vice Rector of Hue Industrial College said: “With the view of bringing enterprises closer to the school through training coordination, this cooperation model contributes to the supply of human resources, reducing the gap between training and practice. After graduation, students, learners can start working immediately and enterprises do not have to spend their training again”.

With this training cooperation, both the school, enterprises and learners can gain benefits. Most of the vocational education institutions do not have enough financial conditions to be fully equipped with the most modern machinery and equipment. This cooperation helps the school equip with machines to catch up with the trend of the era, and lecturers are updated with practical knowledge in the market.

Enterprises having abundant human resources can use them immediately, without spending time and costs for re-training. Students could have access to new technology, practical knowledge, and working environment from the enterprises, most importantly, having a job immediately after graduation.
