The nine films screened at the festival are in the genre of drama, comedy, documentary, and historical. Specifically, the names of the films are: 24 weeks, Lost in Berlin, Rebellious Lotzmann family, Happiness, Y Generation, Main Lake, Free promise buried in sand, Wild and Tschick.

“24 weeks” of director Anne Zohra Berrached is the only German film selected to compete at the Berlinale International Film Festival. The movie is about a mother's decision on pregnancy of an unhealthy baby.

“Lost in Berlin” tells the story of a young woman's journey to Berlin, where she meets a gentleman. From the passionate flirtation, the story suddenly becomes a scary crime, a horrible trip.

The noteworthy historical film is the “Free promise buried in sand” which brings the audience back in time to 1945, when World War II ended. The Germans had sown seeds of hatred through the war and the occupation of their neighbors, and then they reaped the resentment. Twelve German soldiers became prisoners of war. The young men had to fumble every square meter and clean up mines laid on the Danish coast by the German troops. No one knew where the next mine was, where the risk of blasting was stalking. The only thing that maintained their will to survive every day was the promise to be returned to their homeland after the completion of their mission.

According to the Festival Organizing Committee, these films do not paint a perfect world or an ideal Germany, they ask questions and seek answers. Whether what people see are typical of Germany or not, the audiences themselves are the evaluators and seeking the answer about Germany.

For each film screened at the festival, the organizers set age limit for the audience.
