As an annual event organized by Hue City People's Committee during the Mid-Autumn Festival and within the framework of the annual Hue Festival, this year's Unicorn - Lion - Dragon Dance Festival and Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade will be held over two days, September 6th and 7th, on the main streets of the city center.

On the evening of June 9th, the Provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, in coordination with the Hue Festival 2024 Organizing Committee, launched the Lantern Festival.

The lotus lanterns placed onto the middle of the Huong River symbolize the first seven footsteps of the World-Honored One after his birth.

The early days of autumn are also the time when the whole family of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Man, who is now 48 years old (residing at 26 Pham Tu Street, Huong Long Ward, Hue City) and a team of workers rushing to complete a large number of lanterns for timely delivery to customers in Binh Dinh and some southern provinces.

The antique architectural constructions, the bridges which are inherent with the history of the Capital, as well as the traditional royal dances, or just simply the dragon boats, paper flower lanterns, etc., were described innocently but gracefully and meticulously and prettily on Ao dai by the children.

These days, pagodas in Hue are busy decorating and preparing for celebrating Vesak 2567, while some households engaged in making lanterns on Chi Lang Street are racing against time for delivery.

On the morning of May 23 (5th of the 4th lunar month, of the year of the Cat), the Board of Administration - The Organizing Committee of the Vesak 2567 in Thua Thien Hue Province performed the rite of launching of seven lotus lanterns onto the middle of the Huong River to celebrate the major occasion.

Traditional lanterns which were thought to be extinct are now revived in an extremely impressive way. They help the public partly figure out how exciting and unique the Mid-Autumn Festival was in the past. Apart from that, they are part of the Vietnamese identity and values.

Not only conveying the meaning of the season of reunion to children every Mid-Autumn Festival, Mr. Tan and Mrs. Nam have contributed to preserving the traditional lantern-making profession that their predecessors left to them.

On the afternoon of September 6, the People's Committee of Hue City held this activity at Thuong Bac Park and downtown streets.

More than 1,000 traditional lanterns from royal to folk origins have gathered on the banks of the Huong River to create a sparkling and colorful space just in time for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The program is organized to have more meaningful activities for the children on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival.
