The project will be implemented over 3 years in 5 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri, Binh Dinh, and Kon Tum. It is funded by the European Union Delegation in Vietnam through the HI Organization. The total project budget is 625,000 Euro, with over 175,000 Euro (approximately 4.6 billion VND) allocated specifically to Thua Thien Hue. The project aims to enhance the participation of young people with disabilities in activities that improve health and socio-economic conditions through appropriate digital solutions and remote rehabilitation applications.
The beneficiaries of the project include people with disabilities, especially young people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities, digital service providers; organizations of the disabled and supporting people with disabilities; Information and Technology students, and local authorities.
According to the project’ survey, people with disabilities still face limitations in accessing information, developing skills, and finding employment opportunities. Therefore, the project is designed with the aim of adapting digital applications and platforms for job placement, career counseling, financial services, and rehabilitation services to meet universal design standards and accessibility requirements, while being tailored to local language and contexts.
Participating in this project will help young people with disabilities learn how to use digital applications and platforms for job placement, career counseling, financial literacy, and rehabilitation services; thereby, improving their access to employment opportunities. Additionally, the project aims to raise awareness among government agencies, local authorities, non-governmental organizations working in the disability sector, information and communication technology providers, future IT professionals, as well as people with disabilities in particular, and local communities in the project areas about the importance of promoting appropriate information and communication technology for people with disabilities.
